Nice blog, I was doing a little web browsing and stumbled onto your website, I was pondering if you knew your blog is rendering strangely in the K-mellon browser. I will see most of it but the pictures are somehow out of wallop. Probably not a huge issue since basically no one uses it anymore but I am old school and still use it.

Not really, I am no programmer. I put this up to remind me how to do it rather than as a tutorial. It's just a piece of code that keeps coming up for me.

Cheers,

Chris

Ivica,

The card works fine on Ubuntu and Win XP, would recommend as a cheap solution.

Hi Chris,

how did you do with the USB sound card at the end? I am in the exactly the same situation, still researching the best way of doing it.

I found this page when searching for the right command line parameters and was a bit surprised that you in fact, convert to mpg and not avi.

Here's the correct syntax for converting to avi:
mencoder -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr -ovc copy -o {$1}.avi {$1}.gvi

I copy the video stream without conversion because gvi is in fact divx avi. I only convert audio to mp3 because I don't have a mpga codec for TCPMP (PalmOS video player).

Make sure you use the right drivers. If you play a five string bass, I don't think the drivers would be compatible with a four string bass. Does Linux have good bass guitar support?
