ML115 G5 sound card
I talked in an earlier post of customising the ML115 G5 for use as a desktop as opposed to a server. Being a server it doesn’t come with sound so I went to Maplins and bought a cheap (but overpriced) pci sound card.
This is when I discovered the ML110 G5 has a non standard pci slot which you just aren’t going to find a pci soundcard for…it does have several pci-e slots but soundcards to fit these will be expensive.
I have gone for an external usb soundcard solution, which I am still waiting on delivery. I got a good deal on a Trust 5.1 External Surround Sound Card SC-5500p from Dabs for £15. When I get it I’ll put up a post on how smoothly it runs on Ubuntu 8.10.
